Armstead to Leave House in 2019
West Virginia Republican Chairwoman Melody Potter released this statement on the announcement from Republican House Speaker Tim Armstead of Kanawha County:
"Speaker Armstead has been a leader in our Party for decades, and voters finally rewarded his team in the House in 2014. Tim made conservatives proud for four Legislatures as the Minority Leader. His fellow Delegates chose him to lead into the first Republican majority in more than 80 years, as Speaker of the House in 2015.
When the history of West Virginia's Comeback Story is written, Tim Armstead will be one of the faces on the cover of the book that celebrates what we've done. The Speaker is the man who has made our Party proud, and kept his word to our citizens. His future, like this state's, is a bright one.
This Party and this state are far better for knowing Tim Armstead, and his family. We wish him the best and look forward to when he makes himself available to elected service again."
