WVGOP Statement on Manchin’s Profile in Cowardice
Manchin Vote for Senate Version of HR1 Shows He is On Board With the Schumer-Pelosi Agenda
Charleston, WV- Below is the West Virginia Republican Party’s Statement on Senator Manchin’s Vote for the “For the People Act” today in the US Senate:
On June 6th of this year, in the pages of the Charleston Gazette-Mail, Joe Manchin declared, “I believe that partisan voting legislation will destroy the already weakening binds of our democracy, and for that reason, I will vote against the For the People Act.” Today, less than 3 weeks later, Senator Manchin went back on his word and betrayed the people of West Virginia by voting for the “For the People Act.”
Today’s profile in cowardice by Senator Manchin will go down as one of the most shameless flip-flops in political history. By voting in lockstep for the Pelosi-Schumer agenda, Manchin showed his moderate image is a merely an act he puts on to fool voters back home – at his core he is a Washington liberal just like his puppet masters, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.
The West Virginia Republican Party will continue to hold Manchin accountable for his lies and left-wing voting record.
