Charleston, WV — The West Virginia Republican Party is proud to announce a historic milestone with Republican voter registration in the Mountain State officially surpassing 500,000 for the first time ever.
“West Virginians are joining the Republican Party by the thousands each month,” said Chairman Josh Holstein. “The people of our state know that Republican values are West Virginia values and that’s why our party now has over half a million members and continues to grow exponentially.“
Republican voter registration in West Virginia has soared in recent years. In November 2016, Republicans (398,547) trailed Democrats (571,267) by more than 172,000 registered voters. Today, Republicans (500,858) lead Democrats (334,253) by a staggering 166,605 — a complete reversal in just nine years. With this month’s report, Webster County has flipped to Republican, leaving only five counties in West Virginia with a Democrat plurality (for now).
“We welcome every new Republican as we continue to build a stronger, more prosperous West Virginia,” said Holstein.
